Increase Acre Limit for Agriculture and Timber Conservation Use Property Tax Classification Amendment
Increase Acre Limit for Agriculture and Timber Conservation Use Property Tax Classification Amendment
Georgia · November 3, 2026
What this measure does
Increase the maximum acreage of agricultural and timber property that can be classified as bona fide conservation use property, which is taxed at 40% of the land's value, from 2,000 acres to 4,000 acres
A yes vote means
Farmers and timber owners can get the conservation tax break on up to 4,000 acres instead of 2,000.
A no vote means
The limit stays at 2,000 acres.
Simple explanation
Right now, if you own farmland or timber land, you can get a big tax break on up to 2,000 acres. This measure just doubles that limit to 4,000 acres so more farmers and timber folks can get that same break on their property. It's basically saying, okay, we'll give you the discount on twice as much land.
