Commission on Judicial Disabilities Vacancies Amendment
Commission on Judicial Disabilities Vacancies Amendment
Maryland · November 3, 2026
What this measure does
Allow the chair of the Commission on Judicial Disabilities to appoint former members to temporarily fill vacancies or allow the governor to appoint a substitute member or extend the term of an existing member
A yes vote means
The head of the judicial complaint group can fill empty seats faster by rehiring old members, or the governor can appoint someone to help out.
A no vote means
The group has to stick with the slower process they use now when someone leaves.
Simple explanation
There's a group of judges who handle complaints about other judges. Right now when someone leaves that group, it takes a while to fill the spot. This measure lets them bring back old members temporarily or have the governor quickly slot someone in instead of waiting around.
