Proposal 4
Proposal 4
Vermont · November 3, 2026
What this measure does
Prohibit the denial of rights to an individual based on their race, ethnicity, sex, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or national origin
A yes vote means
If it passes, it becomes illegal to deny someone a job, housing, service, or other rights just because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or other personal characteristics.
A no vote means
If it fails, the current rules stay the same and there's no statewide protection against this kind of discrimination.
Simple explanation
Right now, some laws let businesses or government agencies treat people differently based on things like their race, religion, or who they're attracted to. This measure says that's not allowed anymore. It's basically saying everyone gets treated the same way no matter who they are.
